Rheumatolgy
Rheumatology deals with all kinds of musculoscleletal problems. Contrary to common thinking, one can consult a rheumatologist not just for pain emerging in the elderly, consequent to aging. Rheumatology on the other hand deals with at least 200 types of diseases, but 4 categories can be classified into the subject area:
- Spinal problems
e.g.: discus abnormalities, worn-out, luxated small joints, Bechterew’s Disease
- Soft tissue abnormalities
e.g.: tennis elbow, shoulder joint pain, muscle pain in the trapezius area
- Diseases with the destruction of the joint surface (cartilage)
e.g.: arthrosis
- Inflammatory disorders
e.g.: rheumatoid arthritis, reactive arthritis
