Menopause consultation
Menopause is a process, during which the ovarian function gradually stops, the female menstrual cycle becomes irregular, the hormonal levels fluctuate within broad limits, later on the production of estrogen stops as well. Since a great deal of symptoms of the menopause is due to the lack of estrogen, in case of severe inconveniences it is worth considering replacing it and other hormones as well. Before a decision is made on it, the patient in any case should have a specialist consultation, an ECG, a blood sampling, measurement of body weight and osteodesitometry, an ultrasound examination and if it is reasonable, other exams as well. Considering your long-term health and the proper information, the affected person and the specialist should make the decision together with the purpose to prescribe the lowest effective dose. The required hormone replacement should be individually prescribed, and it can be safely applied under regular medical supervision.
Infertility assessment
If no pregnancy occurs after one and a half - two years of regular unprotected sex, it is recommended that the couple undergo fertility testing. Fertility testing should be considered earlier, if one member of the couple is older (for women over age 35, for men over age 45), if one member of the couple had a former relationship without having children or has a severe disease, or if the female menstrual cycle is irregular, abnormal. Steps of the assessment: Following the first consultation, at first we perform the gynecological exam, cervical cancer screening, bacterial culture from urine, vaginal swab culture, and other blood tests for hormones and viruses. In the next step tubal patency tests are performed, during which the womb cavity will be explored and tubal patency will be evaluated. This can be executed –as far as possible- by using ultrasound, x-ray, and in case of necessity by laparoscopic surgery. After all these the so-called genetic testing may be performed as well. At the end of the procedure results will be evaluated, patient consent forms will be handed over and if it is necessary decision will be made on assisted reproduction procedures, on anesthesiologic consultation and on recommendations on ovarian stimulation.
